Official status checked on 27 July 2026. Medhashree is a West Bengal scholarship for eligible OBC students in Classes V–VIII. The most important point is that the Government of West Bengal describes it as a school-led process: the student is identified and the details are submitted and verified through the school. It is not a general “instant online form” that any website can approve.

Official source and current status
The West Bengal state portal’s Medhashree page, updated 26 June 2026, lists the benefit, eligibility and school verification process. Students and guardians can also check the Banglar Shiksha portal for current school-education notices.
We found no separate official notice requiring every guardian to submit a fresh public “Medhashree 2026 online form” independently. If your school gives a circular or deadline, follow that school notice and keep a copy.
Who can be considered
The official West Bengal page lists the following core conditions:
- The student is a permanent resident of West Bengal and belongs to the OBC category.
- The student is studying in Class V, VI, VII or VIII in a government, government-aided or government-recognised school.
- Annual family income should generally not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
- The student should not be receiving another similar scholarship for the same purpose.
- A valid bank account is required for Direct Benefit Transfer.
Final acceptance depends on official verification. Category, income, school recognition and bank details should match the documents submitted. Do not edit or manufacture a document to fit the eligibility rules.
How the school-led application works
- Ask the class teacher or school office whether Medhashree details are being collected for the current session.
- Provide only the documents named by the school, commonly identity/residence details, OBC certificate, income information and bank details.
- The Headmaster/Headmistress or authorised school official identifies eligible students and submits the details on the government system.
- The school and the concerned department verify the record.
- After approval, the benefit is transferred to the validated bank account through DBT.
There is no benefit in paying an outside agent. A private website, cybercafe or social-media page cannot add a student to the verified school list.
How to check the status
Start with the school office because it can confirm whether the student’s record was submitted, returned for correction or approved. If the school used a portal that provides an application or acknowledgement number, keep it and use only the official tracking option named by the school.
After approval, check the student/guardian bank statement rather than relying on an SMS screenshot. For a failed DBT, verify that the account is active and that the beneficiary name and account number match the school record. Then give the correction to the school; never post bank details or OTPs in public comments.
Medhashree and OASIS are not the same screen
Medhashree is described by the state portal as a school-led Class V–VIII OBC scholarship. OASIS is the Backward Classes Welfare scholarship portal covering multiple pre-matric and post-matric programmes. Do not assume an OASIS login automatically proves a Medhashree application. Follow the specific instructions issued by the school and department.
Common questions
Can a Class IX student apply for Medhashree?
The official scheme page lists Classes V–VIII. A Class IX student should check the appropriate pre-matric scholarship on the official OASIS/department portal instead.
Is the benefit ₹800 every month?
No. The state page lists ₹800 per student annually, not monthly.
Can BengalEduHub check my application?
No. We do not have access to school or government beneficiary records. Contact the school that submitted the record.
