Who can receive the benefit?
Selection and eligibility are verified through the state’s school-education records and the student’s institution. The relevant class, school type and academic session must match the current government instruction. Being a West Bengal student or having a bank account alone does not automatically create eligibility.
Ask the Head of Institution or authorised school official whether your name is included for the current cycle. The school can also confirm which details—student ID, Aadhaar/identity record, mobile number, bank account and guardian information—are required. Do not submit false class, school or bank information to enter a beneficiary list.
How the process usually works
- The school verifies eligible students in the Banglar Shiksha/department workflow.
- The student and guardian check the personal and bank details recorded by the school.
- When the official undertaking/self-declaration step is opened for the student, use the government portal and the login/credentials supplied or recognised by the system.
- Complete the declaration honestly and submit it within the official window.
- After verification and sanction, the government sends the benefit to the validated bank account.
There is not always an open public “apply now” form for students whose names are absent from the school list. A cybercafe cannot add or approve a beneficiary outside the authorised school workflow.
How to check Taruner Swapno status
Use two official checkpoints:
- School record: ask whether the student is pending, approved, rejected or returned for a data correction.
- Official student/undertaking portal: use it only when the student has been directed to log in. The official student login is on a
wb.gov.indomain.
For payment status, check the beneficiary’s bank statement. An SMS or screenshot forwarded by another person is not proof of your transfer.
