WB SET 2026: 28th SET Official Notice, Proposed Date & Syllabus Guide

WB SET Exam 2026 Notification & Syllabus

Status checked: July 27, 2026

The West Bengal College Service Commission issued a notice dated 10 March 2026 stating that the 28th State Eligibility Test (WB SET) is proposed to be held on 13 December 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Candidates should check the official SET notice page for the detailed advertisement, application window and later changes.

The old version used “upcoming notification” language and mixed SET eligibility with Assistant Professor salary. This page now focuses on the verified 28th SET notice and separates an eligibility test from recruitment to a salaried post.

Proposed date versus final schedule

The March notice uses the word “proposed”. Candidates should recheck the final advertisement, admit-card notice and any rescheduling notice. Do not book travel or rely on a coaching-site calendar without confirming the latest WBCSC item.

27th SET and 28th SET are different cycles

The official SET notice page also contains 27th SET result, cutoff, final answer-key and e-certificate/scorecard updates published in March 2026. Those links serve candidates of the 27th SET. They are not the application or admit card for the 28th SET.

Syllabus and eligibility

Use the official general paper and subject-specific syllabus listed by WBCSC. Detailed eligibility, category relaxation, fee, subject choice, document and application rules must be taken from the 28th SET advertisement. Do not assume that an older advertisement is unchanged.

Qualifying SET establishes eligibility under applicable rules; it does not itself guarantee an Assistant Professor job or salary. Recruitment to a post is a separate process.

Safety warning: Use only WBCSC/WB SET official domains for registration, fee payment, admit card, answer key and scorecard. Never pay an agent for a qualifying result.

Common questions

Is the application form confirmed open?

No. They are different examination cycles.

How to prepare before the detailed 28th SET advertisement

Create a candidate folder before registration begins. Keep clear scans of your recent photograph, signature, postgraduate marksheets, proof of date of birth and category or disability certificate where applicable. Do not resize or upload anything until the official advertisement specifies file format, size and validity requirements. Your name, parent’s name and date of birth should match the supporting records.

Choose the SET subject only after comparing your postgraduate subject with the subject and equivalence instructions in the official advertisement. A similar-sounding subject name is not automatic proof of eligibility. If your degree title is unusual or interdisciplinary, retain the university syllabus and contact WBCSC through the official channel instead of relying on a coaching-centre answer.

A practical preparation plan for Paper I and the subject paper

Start with the official WBCSC syllabus and divide every unit into three groups: completed, needs revision and not started. Paper I preparation should cover teaching and research aptitude, reasoning, communication, data interpretation, information technology, people and environment, and the higher-education system according to the official syllabus. For the subject paper, use the WBCSC topic list as the master checklist and attach previous official papers only to the relevant units.

Keep the proposed date separate from the final admit-card schedule. In the final weeks, verify the reporting time, permitted identification, prohibited items and exam-centre instructions from WBCSC. Candidates also preparing for school-teacher recruitment can compare the separate WB Primary TET status guide and WBSSC SLST update guide; these examinations have different purposes and eligibility rules.

After the examination

Download provisional and final answer keys, result notices, cutoff documents and the e-certificate only from the official portal. Save a copy with the examination number and year in the filename. A qualifying certificate supports eligibility under the applicable rules, while college-wise recruitment, document verification and appointment remain separate processes.
